Paradise Bay Beach Malta

Paradise Bay beach is located on the north-west of Malta, near the Gozo Ferry Terminal in Ċirkewwa, lies Paradise Bay, one of Malta’s most beautiful beaches. One of the most popular beaches and possibly one of the top 10 best beaches in Malta, and possibly the most attractive. Featuring a sandy beach, set in a natural cove and surrounded by rugged cliffs, Paradise Bay is truly a paradise.

Visiting Paradise Bay Beach

Visiting Paradise Bay beach is a delight for the senses. With its scenic views of Malta’s northernmost point and neighboring islands Gozo and Comino, it’s easy to see why. The beach is mainly sandy, but there are also plenty of caves and rocky inlets for snorkeling. Swimming is usually safe due to the gentle slope of the sandy bank and the bay’s geography, however, visitors should always be aware of any yellow or red flags, indicating moderate to severe water conditions.

The Mediterranean water here is pristine and blue, and the beach is kept immaculate. Right beside it is a big lido offering everything needed – drinks and food, umbrellas and sun-loungers, toilets and showers, plus water sports/activities. If you’re feeling daring, you can hire a kayak and explore the coastline which is gorgeous and has numerous secret spots.

How to get to Paradise Bay

You may get to Paradise Bay by either driving, booking a cab or make use of public transport.

Driving to Paradise Bay

Reaching Paradise Bay beach is straightforward if you have a car. It’s located at the north-western end of island of Malta, right after Mellieħa and close to the Ċirkewwa Gozo Ferry terminal. Look out for the sign on the left of the road before the Paradise Bay Hotel building and follow it to the parking area. Parking is gratis, yet a parking attendant is usually there expecting a tip (although you don’t have to give one!).

Book a Cab or use Public Transport

Booking a cab is easy but it may get quite pricey depending on how far away you are located. A cheaper option is to make use of public transport. You can take the #101 bus from Mellieħa centre to the parking area above the bay. If not, you can ride the #41, #42 or X1 bus from Valletta bus stop to near the Paradise Bay Hotel in Ċirkewwa, follow the signs and walk around 1 km to the beach. Be sure to wear sun protection and stay hydrated if you go on foot!

Paradise Bay Hotel Cirkewwa

The Paradise Bay Hotel is the obvious choice for those wishing to be close to Paradise Bay beach. Not only is it just a short distance from the beach, but it also boasts stunning views of the area. With a tennis court, four pools,a gym, a sauna whirlpool and a private Blue Flag beach, the hotel has plenty of facilities to offer. It is also home to the award-winning Paradise Diving School, which has been operating for over 20 years. Guests can take advantage of the convenience of dive boats leaving from and returning to the hotel beach.

If you appreciate the tranquil, natural environment of the northern region of Malta, you’ll love the Paradise Bay resort. There’s not much to do other than relish the beach and its environs, and it’s quite isolated from the rest of the island – Mellieħa is the nearest village, which is around 5 km (roughly 10 minutes by car) away. There’s no nightlife whatsoever. I’d always suggest renting a car if you’re staying in the Mellieha vicinity; it’s a serene part of Malta, and it permits you to get around more freely.
